Beer Pallet Shelf

I have had a shitty time finding a good shelf to store my beers. There is a ton of wine shelf options. Wine shelves suck for beer because they are designed to angle the bottle which is not good for beer. Beer should be stored upright. I liked the idea of using a pallet so I searched Google. I found this awesome tutorial who deserves all the credit for this idea. Here is my version:

Step 1: Find a pallet. Apparently this is pretty simple as I saw one next to a dumpster and when I went to snatch it up,  a man offered me 10 more.

Step 2: This is crucial. Gather materials and BEER!

  • Three 1 x 3 x 4 pine wood planks
  • Wood Stain (color: Boulevard Imperial Stout)
  • Polyurethane (matte finish)
  • Paint Brush
  • Rags
  • Tin Sign
  • Tallgrass Beer

Tools:

  • Crow bar
  • Hammer
  • Saw
  • Sander
  • Impact Driver

Step 3: Remove the 2nd, 4th and 6th slat.

Step 4: Cut and shelf that bitch. I cut the pine and used a small hammer to fit the boards and then an impact driver to fasten screws. Sand it all down to remove coarse parts.

Step 5: Stain it. Let dry and then polyurethane it. I used a dark  “Imperial Stout Brown,” to hide the scuffs of the forklift. SUPER BORING! Worst part of the project.

Step 6. Allow to dry and tack on a super nifty tin sign. You are money. Wall mount it (not shown) and fill with your favorite brews. SALUD!
